Oomycetes are a group of fungus-like organisms that belong to the kingdom Stramenopila. Despite their fungus-like appearance, they are actually more closely related to algae than to true fungi. Oomycetes are commonly found in aquatic environments, such as rivers, lakes, and oceans, but some species can also cause plant diseases.
