Mubarak was an Egyptian political leader who served as the fourth President of Egypt from 1981 to 2011. He was born on May 4, 1928, in Kafr El-Meselha, Egypt. Mubarak was a career officer in the Egyptian Air Force before entering politics.

During his time in power, Mubarak was known for maintaining stability in Egypt but faced criticism for his authoritarian rule and human rights abuses. He was re-elected multiple times in referendums that were criticized for lack of competition.

Downfall

In 2011, amid the wave of popular uprisings known as the Arab Spring, mass protests erupted in Egypt calling for Mubarak's resignation. On February 11, 2011, Mubarak stepped down as President after 18 days of demonstrations, ending his three-decade-long rule.

Legal Troubles

After his resignation, Mubarak faced legal troubles and was put on trial for his role in the deaths of protesters during the uprising. In 2012, he was convicted and sentenced to life in prison, but the verdict was overturned on appeal. He was later retried and acquitted in 2017.

Despite his release from prison, Mubarak remained a controversial figure in Egypt, with supporters viewing him as a stabilizing force and critics condemning his autocratic rule. He passed away on February 25, 2020, at the age of 91.
